The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is endorsing the 73rd Combat Veteran For Congress; he is a fiscally conservative candidate who will work to rein in the out of control spending by Congress and the Obama Administration; he is a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment and supports a Balanced Budget Amendment to the US Constitution.  Major William L. Driscoll, USMCR (R-WA-6) http://www.electbilldriscoll.org/ of Tacoma, Washington is running for an open seat in the 6th Congressional District of Washington State.  Bill Driscoll was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 7, 1962.   Bill’s grandfather served in combat in the US Army during WWII and his father served in combat in the Korean conflict as a Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps from 1952-1953.  Bill graduated from St Paul’s Academy in St Paul, Minnesota in June 1980.   In June 1984, Bill graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics.  In September 1988, Bill entered the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and received a Master in Business Administration Degree (MBA) in June 1990.  

Following graduation from Bates College, in June 1984, Bill Driscoll reported to the US Marine Corps Officer’s Candidate School on October 8, 1984, at the US Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant on December 14, 1984, and completed the Basic School for Marine Corps Officers; he was on the Commandant’s List when he graduated in June 1985.  Following completion of Infantry Officer’s School in September 1985, 2nd Lt Driscoll graduated from US Army Ranger School in December 1985, and Airborne School in January 1986.  In January 1986, 2nd Lt Driscoll reported as a Platoon Commander in “C” Company, 1st Battalion, 6th Marines in Camp Lejeune, NC.  2nd Lt Driscoll was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in December 1986 and was assigned as the Executive Officer of Weapons Company in the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines; in August 1986, 2nd Lt Driscoll made a Mediterranean cruise as part of an Special Operations Capable Marine Amphibious Unit (SOC MAU), returning to CONUS in March 1987.  On December 1, 1987, 1st Lt Driscoll was released from active duty, and accepted an appointment as a 1st Lt in the US Marine Corps Reserve.  In January 1989, 1st Lt Driscoll was promoted to Captain in the US Marine Corps Reserve; In January 1990 Captain Driscoll affiliated with an Anglico Unit but was not activated for Operation Desert Storm.    On January 16, 2006, Captain Driscoll was recommissioned a Captain in the USMCR, Activated on January 22nd and was assigned as the Economics Officer in the 3D Civil Affairs Group (CAG) at Camp Pendleton, California.  In March 5, 2006, Captain Driscoll deployed to Camp Corregidor, in Ramadi, Anbar Province, Iraq where he served as a Team Leader while attached to 1st Battalion, 506th US Army Regiment min the 101st Airborne Division; he returned to Camp Pendleton in October 2, 2006 and was released from active duty. 

On April1 1, 2008, Capt Bill Driscoll was again recalled to active duty as a Team Leader of the 3D Civil Affairs Group at Camp Pendleton, CA.  The unit was assigned to G Company, 2nd Battalion, Seventh Marine Division in March 2008, and on April, 15, 2008 the unit deployed to Farah Province, Afghanistan; the unit also operated in Helmand Province.  On May 1, 2008, Capt Driscoll was promoted to Major.  The 3D Civil Affairs Group returned to Camp Pendleton on November 4, 2008 and Major Driscoll was again released from active duty on November 14, 2008.  Major Driscoll received the Combat Action Ribbon, the Meritorious Unit Commendation,  and various service and campaign medals for combat duty.

In September 1987 he entered the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois to seek an MBA.  After obtaining his MBA in June 1990, Bill accepted a position with Forest Products Industry, Commercial Real Estate, and technology fields.  He then went to work for the Weyerhaeuser Company in Federal Way, WA from 1990 - 1998.  In 1997 Bill was transferred to Shanghai, China where Weyerhaeuser was setting up a factory to produce packaging.  In 1998 Bill left Weyerhaeuser and joined PACCESS, a privately held Portland supply chain management and trader in forest products (paper, pulp, etc.) company, and served in Hong Kong from 1998- 2001 as Managing Director of Asian Operations, and from 2001 - 2004 as Vice President of Supply Chain Solutions in Portland, OR.  From 2005 to present, Bill has worked with Pointegroup, a privately held real estate management and development company.

Bill Driscoll is a member of the Pierce County Republican Party, the South Sound Ronald Reagan Republican Club, the Marine Corps Foundation, the Marine Corps Association, the NRA, the VFW, and is on the Board of the Broadway Center for Performing Arts in Tacoma, WA.  He has been endorsed by the BGEN Doug Richardson, USA (Ret), Col Duane Hardesty, USA (Ret), Outreach Ambassador for Operation IMPACT, Lt Col Greg Ander, USAFA ’85, USAFR (Ret), Cdr John H.
