The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is endorsing the 27th Combat Veteran For Congress in 19 states; he is a fiscally conservative candidate who will work to rein in the out of control spending by the Pelosi Congress.  CW3 Dan Hill, USANG (I-NE-3) http://www.VoteDanHill.com of Grand Island, Nebraska has served for 23 years in the US Army and the Army National Guard and is running for election to Congress in the 3rd Congressional District of Nebraska.  CW3 Hill is running against Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE-3) who was first elected to his seat in 2006.  Dan was born in May 1965, in Monroe, Michigan, and was raised on a farm in Ovid, Michigan.  In 1983 Dan graduated from and was Salutatorian Ovid-Elsie High School in Ovid, Michigan.  In 1987 Dan Hill attended Michigan State University, in East Lansing, Michigan on an Army ROTC Scholarship, majoring in physiology. In 1992 Dan earned a MBA through Boston University’s overseas program in Heidelberg, Germany.        

Dan graduated from Michigan State University in June 1987; he graduated first, as the top military graduate in the ROTC Program, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant.   In 1985 and in 1986, while a ROTC Cadet, Dan completed Army Airborne and Army Ranger Schools.   Following commissioning, Second Lieutenant Hill completed flight training and received his wings at Fort Rucker, Alabama in June 1989.   From 1990 to 1993, 1st Lt Hill was posted in Europe with the 1st Armored Division in Nuremberg, Germany.  In December 1990 1st Lt Hill deployed with the 1st Armor Division to Operation Desert Storm.  During Operation Desert Storm he was promoted to Captain, and served with distinction as an AH-64 (Apache) Attack Helicopter Platoon Leader, in B Company, 2-1 Aviation Battalion; he returned to Germany with the 1st Armored Division in May 1991.  In 1993 Captain Hill graduated from Army Aviation Officer Advanced Course; later that year, Captain Hill resigned from active duty with the US Army.   In 2001, Dan Hill joined the Army National Guard and reverted to Warrant Officer rank as a CW2, and in 2004, he accepted a fulltime, active duty position with the Nebraska Army National Guard as a Training Officer and Instructor Pilot.  CW2 Hill served for 9 months as part of Operation Jump Start with his unit, that anchored the Aviation Task Force in Arizona, providing helicopter support to the US Border Patrol.  On June 30, 2004, CW2 Hill resigned his active duty position with the Nebraska Army National Guard because as an active duty military officers he could not run for political office.  In 2006, CW2 Hill was promoted to CW3; CW3 Hill is a Master Army Aviator, an Instructor Pilot, an Army Ranger, and his current Army National Guard billet is with Alpha Company in the 1-376th Aviation Battalion as an Instructor Pilot.   CW3 Dan Hill was awarded a Bronze Star Medal, two Air Medals (one for Valor in Combat), a Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and multiple campaign service medals; his unit also received a Valorous Unit Citation for combat duty during Operation Desert Storm.    

In 1993 after resigning from the US Army, Dan moved to Minnesota to work for Cargill in the North Star Steel Division headquarters.  In 1996, Dan Hill moved to Grand Island, Nebraska where he worked as a Certified Financial Planner for a small, private firm.   In 1999, Dan started the Hill Investment Mangement Firm; he is a Certified Financial Planner and Certified Manager.  Dan is a member of the NRA, the VFW, the Army Aviation Association of America, and he has served on the board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters.  Dan and his family attend Northridge Assemblies of God Church in Grand Island, NE.  In 1996, Dan Hill authored his first book, “History of America 1492-1783: A Practical Guide to Producing Long-Term Measurable Results in Education.”  In 2000, he published his second book, “Sensible Investing.”  In 2004, Dan authored his third book, “VOTE for DAN,” for his campaign.

Dan got married in 1989 and soon adopted his oldest daughter, Nikki (currently age 23), a second daughter, Amanda (currently age 19), was born while he was stationed with the 1st Armored Division in Nuremberg, Germany.  For 15 years, Captain Hill was the sole custodian and a single-parent of his two daughters, after his wife left the family in 1993.  In 2008, Dan married his long-time girlfriend Dawn Czarnick of Grand Island.  His Daughter, Nikki, is a Registered Nurse working in surgery in Grand Island, and his youngest daughter, Amanda, is on a Regent’s Scholarship at the University of Nebraska in Omaha, majoring in nursing.  CW3 Hill’s brother owns a small business in Grand Island; his father retired from the seed corn business several years ago; his parents live in Hastings.

A Veteran is someone who, at one point of his life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount “up to and including his life. If you review CW3 Hill’s positions on his Web site, you would be pleased with his stands; they agree with the Combat Veterans For Congress Mission Statement. He is a staunch supporter of the Free Enterprise System. We look forward to working with him, and are pleased that a Combat Veteran of his stature is running for Congress.
