Combat Veterans For Congress-----Embedded Integrity

The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is endorsing the 112th Combat Veteran For Congress in 8 years.  Cdr Mark Plaster, USNR (FMF) (MC), Esq. resides in Annapolis, Maryland is a fiscally conservative candidate who will work to reduce the national debt, will focus on reining in the out of control spending by irresponsible members of Congress, will work toward unleashing the private sector to grow once again, create jobs, and stimulate private sector business investment.  Cdr Plaster has served 14 year in the US Naval Reserve Medical Service Corps.  Cdr Plaster won the Republican nomination to run for the Congressional seat in the 3rd Congressional District of Maryland.  He is running against Congressman John Sarbanes (D-MD-3), a 5 term member of Congress who has voted in lock step with Nancy Pelosi 99% of the time.  

Cong Sarbanes voted against the VA Accountability Act twice, and has the 4th lowest rating in Congress by the American Veterans score card.  Cong Sarbanes backed the Fast Track Trans Pacific Trade Bill (TPP), which cedes US sovereignty to an international tribunal, supported sequestration that has hollowed out the US Armed Forces; supported Obama’s Socialist Common Core agenda, supported Obama’s open border policy allowing millions of Illegal aliens to simply walk across the wide open border; supported Obama’s program to bring in the 900,000+ Muslim Refugees from the Middle East, while preventing the FBI from interviewing them to determine if they had terrorist ties.

Mark Plaster was born in Gorman, Texas on January 28, 1958, as the son of a Church of Christ Minister.  He grew up in Texas and Oklahoma, but spent most of his youth in Kansas City, Missouri.  His grandfather was a Disabled Veterans as a result of trench warfare during WWI.  His father and his three uncles served in the US Navy during WWII; his father was an Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd Class and a waist gunner on a PBY in the Pacific Theatre.  Mark attended Raytown High School in Raytown, Missouri, graduating in June 1970.  Mark attended York College in York, Nebraska on a basketball scholarship before transferring to Abilene Christian College, in Abilene, Texas, and graduated in June 1974, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  Mark matriculated at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine in Columbia Missouri, graduating in June 1979 with a Doctor of Medicine Degree.  Dr. Plaster graduated from Widener University Delaware School of Law in Wilmington, DE in June 1990, with a Juris Doctor degree in Health Law.  
In September 2001, at age 50, when Dr. Plaster’s son Graham was a First Class Midshipman at the US Naval Academy, he made application to join the US Naval Reserve Medical Service Corps at the Naval Recruiting Office in Wilmington, Delaware.  On May 10, 2002, Dr. Plaster’s son Graham graduated from the US Naval Academy, and he pinned Graham’s Ensign shoulder boards on his son.  Later that afternoon, in an informal setting Ensign Graham Plaster, USN swore Dr. Plaster in as a Lieutenant Commander in the US Naval Reserve Medical Service Corps.    

Lcdr Plaster reported to the Bethesda Naval Hospital in June 2002 as a drilling reservist.  In December 2002, Lcdr Plaster transferred to Program 9, in support of the US Marine Corps, and reported to Surgical Company Bravo, 4th Medical Battalion at Anacostia Naval Air Facility (NAF), Washington, DC.  In January 2003, Lcdr Plaster was ordered to Direct Commission Officer (DCO) indoctrination at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, FL.  Upon completion of DCO indoctrination at the end of February 2003, he received orders to deploy to Iraq,  In early March 2003, Lcdr Plaster reported to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (IMEF) at Camp Pendleton, California, and shortly thereafter during the first year of the invasion of Iraq, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, as Officer In Charge, Shock Trauma Platoon 7, 4th  Medical Battalion, 4th Service Support Group, IMEF.   

Lcdr Plaster returned to Anacostia NAF in October 2003, and for his service he was designated Fleet Marine Force (Warfare Qualified).  His battalion received the military’s highest unit award, the Presidential Unit Citation, and he was awarded various Service and Campaign Medals.  Lcdr Plaster returned to the Surgical Company Bravo at Anacostia for reserve duty.  Upon returning home, he was again called on to serve his nation when he was asked to provide expert advice on an expansive classified report for the President of the United States through the Department of Homeland Security regarding our nation’s readiness for a large-scale catastrophic attack on the homeland.  He continued his duties Surgical Company Bravo, 4th Medical Battalion.  In June 2008, Lcdr Plaster was promoted to Commander.

In August 2008, Cdr Plaster reported to the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force (IIMEF), 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He reported in as the Senior Medical Officer, Shock Trauma Platoon 2, Combat Logistic Battalion 2, Korean Village, Iraq in Western Anbar Province.  The Battalion provided humanitarian care for the Iraqi people and trained Iraqi medical staffs.  Cdr Plaster returned to Anacostia in March 2009.  For service his battalion was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation, and he was awarded various Service and Campaign Medals.  In October 2009, Cdr Plaster was transferred to Detachment Q at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland.  His duties included assignment to the Rapid Response Team.  In November 2012, assigned as Officer In Charge, Headquarter Detachment, Surgical Company Bravo. 4th Medical Battalion.  January 2016 transferred to the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) while running for Congress.

Mark started writing for a medical magazine and eventually realized he could produce a magazine himself.  Mark started a publishing company in 1993 and grew it to produce two national, and one international magazine every month, all of which started on a picnic table and a dot-matrix printer in his basement.  Today, “Emergency Physicians Monthly” is one of the most widely read emergency medicine journals in the industry and Mark’s “Night Shift” columns have been compiled into a book of the same title.  Dr. Plaster is the Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of Emergency Physicians Monthly, M. L. Publishing, LLC, 5 College Avenue, Annapolis, MD.  In 1988, Dr. Plaster was credited by then Senator Joe Biden (D-DE-Senate) with saving his life, when Dr. Plaster’s medical team diagnosed a life threatening intracranial bleed, and successfully transferred Senator Biden to Walter Reed Army Hospital for immediate surgery.  Dr. Plaster was an Emergency Room Physician on staff at Harbor Hospital Center, 3001 S. Hanover Street, Baltimore MD from August 2006 to February 2011.  From February 2011 to present, Dr. Plaster has been an Emergency Room Physician on staff at Bowie Health Center, 15001 Health Center Drive, Bowie, MD.

Dr. Plaster is a member of the Military Officer’s Association of America (MOAA), the VFW, the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), Past President of the Delaware Chapter ACEP, the US Naval Academy Chapel Association, Maryland State Medical Society, American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM), Delaware Chapter ACEP, Past President of Ohio Chapter ACEP, Richland County Ohio Medical Society, and the New Castle County Delaware Medical Society.    
Dr. Plaster is married to his wife Rebecca of 42 years; they have three adult children, Lcdr Graham Plaster, USNA ‘02 age 36, Logan age 33, and daughter Whitney age 30, and they have 7 grandchildren.  Dr. Plaster and his wife are active members of US Naval Academy Protestant Chapel, in Annapolis, MD.   He has been endorsed by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, Ambassador John Bolton, Congressman Andy Harris (R-MD-1), Congressman Tom Price (R-GA-6) MD, Admiral Ted Parker, USN (Ret), Medal Of Honor recipient SSgt LeRoy Petry, Mike Pregent the Director of Veterans Against the Iran Nuclear Deal, Col Mike Walsh, USMC (Ret), Defend Our Nation PAC, and the Combat Veterans For Congress PAC.
