The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is endorsing the 99th Combat Veteran For Congress in 5 years; he is a fiscally conservative candidate who will work to rein in the out of control spending by irresponsible members of Congress and the Obama administration, he will work toward unleashing the private sector to grow once again, to create jobs, and stimulate business investment. Cdr Jeff Gorell, USNR, Esq. who resides in Camarillo, California has had 15 years of service in the US Navy.  Cdr Gorell is running for election in the 26th Congressional District of California against first term Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-CA-26) who moved from Santa Monica to run in this district.  Cong Brownley has voted in lock step with Pelosi, contributed toward the out of control spending by Congress, voted against repealing the flawed Obama care law, voted to reduce funds for the US Armed Forces fighting the world war on terrorism, and voted to reduce military benefits for Veterans and military retires.  Jeff Gorell was born on November 6, 1970 in Alexandria, Virginia.  Jeff’s grandfather was one of the famous fighting Seabees in the Pacific Theatre of Combat during WWII.  Jeff’s father became a career Surface Warfare Naval Officer and is a Vietnam Veteran, and the family often moved from one duty station to another, both in the US and internationally.  In 1983, the family received orders to Treasure Island San Francisco.  Jeff’s father was Honorably Discharged in the San Francisco Bay Area as a Commander in the US Navy.  In June 1988, Jeff graduated from Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda, Ca.  In June 1992, Jeff received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of California Davis, in Davis, California.  In 1998, Jeff graduated from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California with a Juris Doctorate Degree. 

On August 1999, Jeff Gorell received a direct commissioned an Ensign as a Public Affairs Officer in the US Naval Reserve at the US Naval Reserve Training Center in Alameda, CA.  Ensign Gorell was assigned as an Action Officer in NAVINFO West Det 109 in San Francisco.  In December 1999, he reported to and graduated from Direct Commissioned Officer’s School in Pensacola, FL  In December 2000, Ensign Gorell was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade, and in November 2001 Lt(jg) Gorell mobilized and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, reporting to Navy Forces Central Command 5th Fleet, as the Fleet Public Affairs Officer in Manama, Bahrain.  In March 2002, Lt(jg) Gorell surged forward on Temporary Additional Duty, as Officer-in-Charge of Joint Combat Camera Team.  The unit subsequently deployed to US Central Command Forward, Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, he led a 10 person Combat Camera Team at Regional Command East, and remained in country until September 2002, when Lt(jg) Gorell returned to CONUS.  For duty in a combat environment, Lt (jg) Gorell was awarded the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the NATO Medal, and various Service & Campaign Medals.

In  December 2002, Lt (jg) Gorell was assigned as a Department Head in Naval Reserve Unit 119 West, in San Diego as a Department Head.  In August 2002, Lt (jg) Gorell was promoted to Lieutenant.  In October 2004, Lt Gorell was assigned to Naval Reserve Defense Intelligence Agency Headquarters West Coast going thru training as an Intelligence Officer.  In August 2005, Lt Gorell was assigned as the Operations Department Head of Naval Reserve Pacific Fleet Intelligence Detachment 0194.  In September 2005, Lt Gorell was enrolled in the Navy Basic Intelligence Officer Reserve Course (NIOBC) on weekends thru May 2006.  In May 2006, Lt Gorell was assigned as the Assistant Department Head of Commander Pacific Fleet Detachment 0194 and  in July 2006, he reported to the Naval Intelligence Officer Basic Course in Dam Neck, Virginia and graduated in August 2006 as an Navy Intelligence Officer.  In February 2007, Lt Gorell was promoted to Lieutenant Commander.  In October 2007, Lcdr Gorell was assigned as an Intelligence Officer in the Ready Reserve.    In November 2009, Lcdr Gorell was assigned as the Executive Officer of STRATCOM Joint Space Unit at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.  In March 2011, Lcdr Gorell was mobilized and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as Officer-in-Charge of Task Force Nexus, a 5 man Targeting Cell, embedded with the 1st Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Regional Command-South West, Camp Leatherneck, Helmut Province, Afghanistan.  He led his detachment in creating more than 30 tactical target packages that were used by the US Marine Corps and Special Ops Forces units in raid and detention operations across Helmut Province resulting in 5 enemy KIAs and a significant degradation in narcotics facilitation networks.  In March 2012, Lcdr Gorell returned to CONUS, Lcdr Gorell was re-assigned as Executive Officer of STRATCOM Joint Space Unit at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.   For duty in a combat environment, Lcdr Gorell was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy/Marine Commendation Medal (Gold Star for 2nd award), Joint Services Achievement Medal, and various Service & Campaign Medals  Cdr Gorell completed the Fleet Marine Force  (FMF) Warfare Qualifications and is authorized to wear the FMF Warfare Device.  On June 1, 2014, Lcdr Gorell was promoted to Commander.

In the private sector, Cdr Gorell has been a successful attorney and businessman.  From 1993 to 1996 Jeff was the Deputy  Press Secretary for Governor Pete Wilson.  From 1996 to 1999, Jeff was the Director of Communications  for the California Manufacturers and Technology Association.  From 1999 to 2006, Jeff was the Deputy District Attorney for Ventura County as a criminal trial prosecutor specializing in major narcotics and felony cases.  From 2006 to 2010, Jeff was a small business owner  operating Paladin Principle, LLC.  In 2010, Jeff was elected to the California State Assembly representing Ventura County, and is the Vice Chairman of the Assembly Budget Committee (he has a 100% voting record by the California Taxpayers Association).  From 2006 Jeff has been an Adjunct Professor in Public Policy at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. 

Jeff is a Past Commander of the Military Order of World Wars, Conejo Valley Chapter, a member of America Legion Post 502, and the VFW Post 9791 in Ojai.  Jeff has been endorsed for Congress by the 36th Governor of California, Governor Pete Wilson, by Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Cong Howard “Buck” McKeon, House Majority Whip Cong Kevin McCarthy, Cong Jeff Denham, Cong Devin Nunes, Cong David Valadeo, Cong Doug LaMalfa, Cong Ken Calvert, Cong Paul Cook, Cong Darrell Issa, Dong Ed Royce, Cong Elton Gallegly (Ret), and Cong Robert J. Lagomarsino (Ret), Michael Reagan, Ventura County District Attorney Michael D.
