The Combat Veterans For Congress Political Action Committee is dedicated to supporting the election of fiscally conservative Combat Veterans For Congress. We seek Combat Veterans For Congress who believe in limited government, will rein in the out of control spending of Congress, are committed to preserving and defending the US Constitution, and will support the independence and freedom of the individual as outlined in the Bill of Rights. We support Combat Veterans For Congress who are dedicated to promoting The Free Enterprise System that created the greatest economic engine in the history of mankind, who will provide for a strong national defense, and who will endorse the teaching of US history and the Founding Fathers’ core values in educational institutions.
Combat Veterans For Congress-----Embedded Integrity
The above listed Mission Statement outlines the principals upon which the Combat Veterans For Congress PAC was co-founded in August 2009 by Congressman Barry Goldwater (Ret) and Capt Joseph R. John, USN/FBI (Ret). Its purpose is to endorse fiscally conservative Combat Veterans For Congress who would work to rein in the out of control spending, will protect the freedoms provided to us in the US Bill of Rights and the US Constitution, and who previously demonstrated their willingness to “Go In Harm’s Way” to protect and defend teammates engaged in combat. The PAC is a stand-alone organization, and has no affiliation with any political party; it seeks out Combat Veterans, and after they agree to support the above listed Mission Statement, a background investigation is completed on a potential candidate. In order to be endorsed, the Combat Veteran is further evaluated to ensure they manifest the intelligence, common sense, integrity, honesty, and willingness to govern in accordance with the precepts laid down in the US Constitution. Over the last 4 years, from 2009 to 2012, 326 Combat Veterans from 50 states were interviewed; 81 Combat Veterans For Congress from 35 states were endorsed to run for Congress both in the 2010 mid-term and in the 2012 election. Conservatives, Independents, and Republicans were endorsed; no Democratic has ever agreed to endorse our Mission Statement.
During the 2010 primary season, 27 of the 46 endorsed Combat Veterans For Congress in 19 states won their primary races, and 12 of the 27 Combat Veterans For Congress who won their primary races were subsequently elected to Congress (2 US Senators and 10 US Congressmen from 10 states). In 2012 primary season, 2 of the 51 endorsed Combat Veterans For Congress from 25 states were elected US Senators who were not up for election. Of the remaining 49 endorsed Combat Veterans For Congress, 37 won their primary races or were endorsed by their party, and 18 of the 37 Combat Veterans For Congress were elected to the House of Representatives. A separate and distinct tax-exempt organization, the CVFC 501 (c) (4), was recently formed to solicit donations from corporation for Veterans programs, and this organization will operate separately and distinct from the PAC. The IRS provided the 501 with a tax-exempt letter verifying its tax-exempt status, donations from corporations can be written off as a business expense on a corporation’s tax returns. The 501 will develop educational, patriotic, and training programs for returning Veterans to help them obtain employment in government, the civilian sector and to teach them about the rich patriotic history of the Republic.
We will continue to present the truth on issues that the liberal media establishment continues to ignore, will call attention whenever the Rule of Law is violated, and will recruit a new slate of Combat Veterans For Congress to run in 2014. The elected Combat Veterans For Congress will continue their effort to protect and defend the US Constitution, will endeavor to rein in the out of control spending to avoid the fiscal cliff facing the Republic, and will protect the freedoms provided to us and our posterity that the Founding Fathers laid down in the US Bill of Rights.
